Disc detainer locks are mainly padlocks and bicycle locks. The area of deployment is broad and can be found all over the world. With the ARES from Multipick and a little practice, you will be able to open almost any disc detainer lock. Furthermore, we offer common scales for Abus and Abloy. The difference is mainly in the graduation of 2mm (Abus, Abloy) and 1.6mm (Abloy). The scales are guides to make it easier to find the positions of the individual discs. The graduations already mentioned are the most widely used on the market. Of course, you can also use the scales for any other disc detainer lock. However, the graduation can then only be used as a reference. With the Multipick ARES Opening System, you have all the options to build the right tool for opening disc detainer locks. With this set you will be able to open even tough locks. The basic module offers you the possibility to modularly expand your system.  Our ARES is made of high-quality aluminium with an anodised coating and a special steel alloy, as used in all our products. In order to achieve smooth running between the tensioning tool and the setting tool, a sliding sleeve has been integrated. A clear laser marking of the corresponding components ensures precise orientation during operation. More control can be achieved by individually screwing the handles included in the scope of delivery into the basic module. These are necessary in some cases, especially when using the drill recess version. Changing the individual components, such as the dimple pick, scale, positioning ring, key profile, tensioner and disc setter, can be carried out with minimal effort.

You can always choose the appropriate cylinder and only have to decide which profile you want to use. Even the standard pin version of this practice lock is quite a challenge and requires a lot of know-how to pick it. If you wish to increase the difficulty or make it less challenging, then you can decide for yourself the degree of difficulty at any time by means of the fastening screws. Re-pinning the practice lock is easy peasy: Simply loosen the grub screws with the provided allen key and replace the springs and pins. After that, simply screw the grub screws back in and your new challenge with your training lock is ready. The set contains the required set of pins including a pair of tweezers in the scope of delivery. In this way, you can instantly adapt your training cylinder to your own needs. Our wave rakes represent years of research and development. Based on various wave rakes which are commercially available, and in combination with initial mathematical modelling and final analysis on several prototypes, we created these impeccably crafted wave rakes. Like all lock picks from Multipick, they are made of the finest spring steel, in unrivaled high-tech quality in 0.6 mm-thickness. The waves of the rakes have a length of 25.4 mm in order to eliminate the normally required precise insertion depth and to facilitate simultaneous interaction with 7-pins. The wave rakes are equally tapered from the shaft to tip in order to maximize strength and to eliminate stress concentrations that cause lesser picks to snap. The long plow tip lifts pin 1 instead of bumping into it head on. With a good technique, prompt openings are often possible.Our new wave rake profiles are based on Christina Palmer's original (2019) quint cycloid and quint sinusoidal waves, which were designed by her and a group of PhDs. To achieve this, advanced Mathematica software was used to create an exact tapered wave effect. Christina Palmer is known for her great passion for locksport. She combines her personal experience with the laws of physics, applying both to the development of these two sophisticated profiles. We would like to thank Ms. Palmer for endowing us with her wave rake and tension wrench designs.    Digression:Cycloid curves characterise the wave forms as they can be precisely defined and drawn using parametric equations in CAD programs and have characteristics that lead to useful wave rakes. For example, cycloids are the curves created by the spirograph drawing tool, and also represent the curve of the fastest descent under constant gravity. Many cycloid wave forms were tested to determine the optimal parameters. Most commercially available wave rakes have sharp tips and steep slopes that make smooth raking challenging and also damage the pins. Our short cycloid wave rakes with a sine/cosine ratio of 0.25 provide non-slip action, making it ideal for simple basic locks. Our sinusoidal wave rakes with a sine/cosine ratio of 0 offer gentle action, ideal for hard locks. Both wave forms are available in a quad version for large locks and a quint version for small locks.While the long cycloid wave rakes are recommended for normal use, and the long sinusoidal wave rakes for gentle use. Short cycloid wave rakes are intended for fine raking.Caution! The aggressive cycloid wave rakes are sharp like a saw and can damage the pins and the entire lock.
