Excellent beginner set!
As a beginner in the UK, this set provides a great value selection of essentials, made to an excellent standard. I'm thoroughly enjoying the set and I reckon it will last me long into my locksport career!
The short hook (PN06) and medium hook (PN31) are proving to be very versatile. The shanks are nice and narrow, giving good manoeuvrability in smaller keyways, which are common in Europe and the UK. They are impressively tough considering how delicate they are. They have a little bit of spring to them while still providing good feedback. The laminated handles are fairly comfortable.
The double-peaked Bogotá rake (BOG02), is on the tall side, and the curve is very aggressive. I've had some trouble using it in very short keyways and also with cheap locks where pins can lock up under aggressive raking.
The tension tools are a great selection, with some nice thin heads. The double-ended tool is an economical way to add more range of heads, although the trade-off is that it can drag other tools out when removing it from the case. It would be great to have the model numbers for these tools, but I can't find them online. The tension tools feel nice and tough, and they provide good feedback.
The case is single-stitched leather. It stores tools fairly securely and has a great feel to it.
Overall, I reckon this set will get you into heaps of cylinder locks and quite a lot of padlocks.
I'm looking to expand this set. I'm leaning towards the 13-piece beginner set designed by Christina Palmer, as it would give me some smooth rakes.
Good luck and happy picking!
