Auxiliary tools for the changing of pins 

High quality, stainless steel curved shims used for the dismantling of round cylinders. After a key blank is inserted into the plug from one side, a shim is inserted from the other side, between the body of the lock and the plug. Whilst the blank key is carefully pulled out, the shim is pushed in, until the upper pins are totally separated from the lower pins. With the help of a follower the cylinder core can be pushed out of the main body of the lock. When the correct size and strength is used, these shims maintain their sharpness and are highly durable. 

After the shim has separated the upper and lower pins in the cylinder, the plug follower (Ø 13 mm) is applied from the opposite side of the cylinder to remove the cylinder plug out of the housing without losing the pins and springs. Plug followers come in handy when rekeying locks.
