This little tool prevents the curved shim from sliding and prevents any finger-damaging accidents from occurring. To attach to a shim, just bang the end of the holder against a hard surface and the shim can be placed at varying positions between the metal sleeve and the rod. The shim can then be clamped in place. This positioning can be readjusted by pulling the holder apart. 

High quality, stainless steel curved shims used for the dismantling of round cylinders. After a key blank is inserted into the plug from one side, a shim is inserted from the other side, between the body of the lock and the plug. Whilst the blank key is carefully pulled out, the shim is pushed in, until the upper pins are totally separated from the lower pins. With the help of a follower the cylinder core can be pushed out of the main body of the lock. When the correct size and strength is used, these shims maintain their sharpness and are highly durable.
